Gary GradenGary Graden was born in the USA and studied at Clark University, the Hartt School of Music, the Aspen Summer Music Festival, and with Eric Ericson at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Gary Graden is a former member and tenor soloist with the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir, as well as the vocal ensemble Lamentabile Consort. Gary Graden is presently director of choral music in the Stockholm Cathedral (Storkyrkan at the top of the Old Town) and S:t Jacob´s church. He has also been on the faculty of  Stockholm´s Musikgymnasium where founded and conducted the Stockholm Musikgymnasium´s Chamber Choir. With this choir and the S:t Jacobs Chamber Choir (www.choir.nu) he has won grand prizes and first prizes in several of Europe´s most prestigious competitions, including the European Grand Prize. He has also participated in a wide array of national and international festivals including the Tolosa Festival in Spain, the IFCM World Symposia in Minneapolis and Kyoto, Sagra Musicale Umbra in Italy, Debrecen Festival in Hungary, Koorbiennale in Holland, and the ACDA National Convention in USA. He has commissioned and premiered more than 70 works by such composers as Sven-David Sandström, Thomas Jennefelt, Steve Dobrogosz, Bo Hansson, Gabriel Jackson, Anders Paulsson, Javier Busto, Vytautas Miskinis, Urmas Sisask, Georg Riedel, Carl Unander-Scharin, Stephen Leek, Damijan Mocnik, Corrado Margutti, Giovanni Bonato, and Michael Waldenby. He has conducted several orchestras including the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra, the Stockholm Royal Opera Orchestra, Stockholm Rebaroque, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Philidor, France, and Camerata Strumentale Città di Prato as well as I Solisti di Perugia in Italy. Above and beyond his specialisation in the performance of contemporary music, he has performed such larger works as Handel´s Messiah, Mozart´s Requiem and Mass in c-minor, Bach´s passions and Mass in b-minor, as well as the Requiems of Brahms, Duruflé, Fauré and Michael Haydn. With his trio WÅG (Wager Åstrand Graden) he is developing and exploring improvisational music for voice and instruments. With his S:t Jacob/Stockholm Cathedral Vocal Ensemble he performs repertoire from all periods for solo and small ensemble. Gary Graden is in demand as conductor, teacher and adjudicator throughout the world. He has conducted many international choirs including the Swedish Radio Choir, SWR Vocal Ensemble-Stuttgart, choirs of Radio France, Orpheus Vokalensemble-Ochsenhausen, Jauna Muzika-Vilnius, Pro Coro Canada, the Formosa Singers-Taipei, the Singapore Ensemble Singers, the IFCM World Youth Choir (Slovenia!), and the ACDA Collegiate Honors Choir among others. His work as conductor and singer is documented on many CD and radio recordings (BIS, Carus, Proprius, Caprice, Phono Svecia, Gehrmans, nosag, Camerata Tokyo, a.o.), including recent recordings of the Bach Motets and St. John Passion. Gary Graden is the recipient of the  “Johannes Norrby medal”  for his contribution to Swedish choral music, and was elected Sweden´s “Choral Conductor of the Year” in 2005. In 2009 he was awarded the Guidoneum Award from the Fondazione Guido D´Arezzo in Italy.

 

Andrea Angelini

Born in Bologna, Italy, Andrea Angelini began his piano studies as a child, at the Rimini Lettimi School. He later earned a Doctorate of Music at Ferrara’s Frescobaldi Conservatory. After earning a Master in Choral Conducting he studied music therapy with Professor Cremaschi of Milan University. His interests led him to the choral field, and he earned a Bachelor studying at the International Art Academy in Rome with Fulvio Angius. He also studied organ at Pesaro’s Conservatory of Music. Finally he got his PHD in Choral Music at the Cesena Conservatoire of Music. He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the professional group Musica Ficta Vocal Ensemble that frequently performs in important Festivals in Italy and abroad. For many years, Andrea Angelini has conducted concerts with the choir Carla Amori, in Italy and abroad. Named Director of the Rimini Community Choir, Alessandro Grandi, he led this choir in several performances, including in important venues such as St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome – where he was able to personally meet Pope John Paul II – and in Milan’s Cathedral. He has also conducted the Belarusian National Capella Choir, the Lithuanian Jauna Muzika Choir, the Latvian Ave Sol, the Ukrainian Ave Musica and the Tudor Consort from New Zealand. Dr. Angelini is the Artistic Director of the Choral Festival Voci nei Chiostri held annually in Rimini each spring. He has been member of the Jury at many International Choir’s Competitions in Italy, Europe and Asia. He frequently leads choral workshops in Italy and abroad. His Masterclass about the “Venetian Renaissance Choral Music” has been presented to the students of the prestigious Liszt Music Academy of Budapest, of the Belarusian State Academy of Music in Minsk and in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the Young Choral Academy. He has led similar workshops in Romania, Russia, Belarus and China too. He is the artistic director and one of the tutors at the Rimini International Choral Workshop, where he teaches with Peter Phillips, director of the Tallis Scholars. Mr. Angelini is also the artistic director of the Rimini International Choral Competition, of the Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition and of the Liviu Borlan Choral Festival. He is the Editor of the International Choral Bulletin (ICB), the membership magazine of the IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music). He has written numerous transcriptions and arrangements for choirs and chamber ensembles. His transcription of Faure’s Requiem is published by Gelber Hund Verlag of Berlin. For the American CanticaNOVA Publication, he has prepared transcriptions of important Renaissance Motets. He has published his composition with Eurarte and Ferrimontana.

 

Lykke_AnholmLykke Anholm, soprano, began singing, dancing and acting at a very early age and played various lead roles such as Anne in “The Diary of Anne Frank” in important theatres in Denmark just in her teens. She began studying opera singing at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music of Copenhagen with Margrete Enevold, but later moved to Italy, where she graduated from the State Conservatory of Music of Pesaro with honours in 2003. She studied all three levels of the renown method “Voice Craft” directly with Jo Estill, the engineer of the technique. After graduation she focused on sacred music and sang various solo parts of the well known international repertoire amongst them Handel’s  “Messiah”, Mozart’s “Incoronation Mass” and his “Requiem”, Faure’s “Requiem”, Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and Schubert’s “Mass in G”. She then went on to study with Mauro Giampaoli e Carlo Morganti and debuted in 2006 at “Teatro della Fortuna” in Fano as Giannetta in Donizetti’s Elisir d’Amore. She has since sung with conductors as Massimo Sabbatini, Fausto Giacomini, Gianluca Gardini, Roberto Molinelli, Manlio Benzi, Vito Clemente and Michele Mariotti and has recorded for Prandi Sounds Records. Her performances include concerts with chamber music ensembles like the “Consort Barocco Ad Libitum”, “I Furiosi” founded by guitarist Aldo Vianello and “Musica Ficta” founded by Andrea Angelini. In addition to her singing career, Lykke Anholm is a vocal coach and a mixed choir conductor. Actually she teaches singing at the Rimini Conservatoire of Music “G. Lettimi”.
