4. Topics covered in warm ups and rehearsals (Ghislaine Morgan)

  • How the voice works: an exploration of vocal technique for both singers and conductors.
  • How to get the best from a choir: for conductors and singers with difficulties with tuning, sight-reading, breathing, confidence, diction, focusing tone, fine-tuning, etc.
  • How to keep singing healthily: warming up the voice, vocal health management & external, non-musical factors influencing singers.
  • The uses of Educational Kinesiology in developing the voice & in encouraging the development of musicianship skills, confidence and memory.
  • How to adapt singing patterns to produce appropriate sounds for Early Music or Opera & how to cope with incorporating a particularly powerful voice in a choral setting.
 

5. Workshops by Marco Gemmani

  • Aspects of choral conducting. Evolution of gesture. Adaptation of gesture to choir and venue. Managing a choral rehearsal.
     

  • Interpretation of Renaissance Polyphony with particular reference to the Venetian School. In depth analysis of the structure of 16th century compositions and resulting issues facing choral conductors. Aspects of sonority in Renaissance repertoire.

  • How to perform Gregorian Chant.
